Ever since the medicinal use of marijuana has been established and the drug is now made legal in many states for therapeutic use, many products have been developed from it! And, this includes CBD oils and tinctures.

It should be noted that tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the psychoactive cannabinoid in marijuana that makes you high. However, many CBD products contain less than 0.3 percent of THC. What does this mean to you? It is safe for consumption without any psychoactive effects!

CBD or Cannabidiol Oil is obtained from the Cannabis plant. CBD Oils are produced by infusing cannabis in carrier oil; whereas CBD Tinctures are obtained by soaking cannabis in water and alcohol. CBD Oil and CBD Tinctures are used as alternative medicine to treat many health problems. And, they are available for the treatment of cancer, epilepsy, and anxiety.

HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT CBD OILS AND TINCTURES.

First and foremost. If it’s all you do. It is essential to read the label of whatever you’re interested in buying and understand the contents BEFORE making the purchase!

There are three types of CBD available in the market:

  1. ISOLATE: This contains only CBD and no other cannabinoid added.
  2. FULL-SPECTRUM: This contains all possible naturally found cannabinoids in the cannabis plant as well as THC.
  3. BROAD-SPECTRUM: This refers to the inclusion of multiple cannabinoids naturally found in the cannabis plant, but does not contain THC.

Research has stated that combining CBD and THC produces a more effective result when compared to using the cannabinoid only. But, to each their own.

All full-spectrum CBD is made with less than 0.3 % THC. However, it may contain additional compounds like flavonoids, fatty acids, proteins, fiber, terpenes, and chlorophyll.

CBD products are not yet regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Therefore, in order to be sure that you are getting the good stuff, it is better to check the label for third-party testing. This will confirm that the ingredients listed on the label are true and safe.

CBD made from organic cannabis is best as it guarantees safety against pesticides or other harmful chemicals.

Mention of hemp, hemp oil, or hemp extract listed on the label is common as these contain CBD. For a flavored oil or tincture, the addition of essential oils or flavorings may be required. As far as health benefits are concerned, refer to the label for the inclusion of other vitamins.

PROPER USAGE OF CBD OILS AND TINCTURES.

The oil and tincture bottle usually comes with a dropper. Shake the bottle well before use in order to mix the contents properly.

Take the prescribed dose (as mentioned on the label or as directed by your doctor) in the dropper and place it under your tongue for 30 seconds or a few minutes to ensure proper absorption before swallowing.

Starting with smaller doses is advisable to gauge how well it suits you. Then, gradually increase the dose as recommended. Remember to have a gap of at least 4 to 6 hours between the two doses – but always refer to the instructions or your doctor.

CBD can be taken at any time of the day. Nonetheless, for improving sleep, it is best consumed before bedtime. Replacing the cap after use, keeping it in a cool and dry place away from sunlight, or storing it in a refrigerator for longer shelf life are some ways to take proper care of your CBD oils and tinctures.

CBD is usually safe to use and well-tolerated. However, it may cause digestion issues and tiredness for some. Flavored oils and tinctures like chocolate, orange blossom, and others have coconut oil as a carrier oil.
